The End of the World - Why Isn't It Here Yet?

Now would be a seemingly perfect time for the apocalyptic end times. Plenty of elements stated in the Book if Revelation are present here today: earthquakes, floods, famine, wars, climate change, overpopulation, instability all over the world... All in all, right now is a pretty terrible time to be alive for a majority of people.

Of course I'm not the only one that feels this way. There's the 2012 Mayan Calender people, particularly crazy Christians like Harold Camping, the Nostradamus' "Les Propheties" people, and a plethora of other groups in which certain things will trigger the end of the world, including but not limited to UFOs and Illuminati conspiracists.

Oh really?

I, myself, do not subscribe to any of the aforementioned beliefs. If the world ever was to end, it'd be most definitely caused by us, humans, instead of some mysterious, unstoppable, and usually divine force. However, I find it very worrying that quite a lot of other people, presently, do believe that the end of the world is right around the corner, a definite event that will occur in their lifetime.

In a time where the global economy is going to Hell in a hand basket and people's livelihoods are at risk, it is very tempting to think the world will soon end so we don't have to deal with this, for lack of a better word, bullshit. Some days I wake up and wish the world would end, too.
